2020 NWPAS Pinball Tournaments
June 5 through June 7, 2020

Satellite Tournament Series
March 16th to May 25th

COVID-19 Update from NWPAS Board of Directors:

With a heavy heart, we have made the decision to cancel the 2020 Northwest Pinball & Arcade Show this June.

With the current ban on large events and the spread of COVID-19 it's too uncertain where things will be 2 months from now. Pinball and arcade shows are very hands on with person after person touching the buttons, joysticks, and controls of games. Even if the venue and city let the event go on it would be impossible for our volunteer staff to keep up with the rigorous sanitation demands. In the interest of public safety and the financial survival of the show we feel it's prudent at this time to make the decision to cancel. All tickets will be fully refunded and we are working with the venue to move our deposit to next year. In the meantime, we urge you to support local arcades, pinball leagues, game vendors, and other pinball and arcade related businesses and organizations as much as you can to keep our hobby alive and flourishing.

Thank you to the thousands of people that were planning on attending and the hundreds of people that volunteer their time and games every year to make the show happen. We do the show for you, you are our community and friends and we will get through this together.

The information that follows on this page is from the original 2020 plans. They'll be left here for reference, as details for 2021 tournaments are likely to be similar.

Northwest Pinball and Arcade Show (NWPAS) provides competitive pinball players in the Pacific Northwest a high quality pinball tournament experience, that begins with the satellite series, and ends with several major events at the show, including the prestigious NW Women's Pinball Championship, a uniquely designed Open Match Play Tournament, and the nation's best attended PinGolf event.

Changes for 2020

The 2020 event will largely follow the format of the successful 2019 NWPAS. Nevertheless, we constantly strive to improve the event based on feedback and observations. This is a summary of key changes for 2020, as compared to 2019:
• Location of the tournament banks will change within the exhibit hall. With the show expanding to use the adjacent hall, the main bank will now be on the complete opposite side of the hall (along right wall relative to main entrance). The Main Bank of tournament machines will now be adjacent to food and drink area. While players will still not be allowed food or drink in the tournament area, they will be close enough to have easy access to food and drink while competing.
• Several machines will be added to the Main tournament bank, allowing capacity of each round of Open Match Play, Women's, and Rookie/Amateur tourneys to expand to 72 players (increased from 60).
• With increase in number of players per round, number of qualifiers in Open Match Play increases to 10 per round, from 7 last year. Winner of round still gets a bye. Number of qualifiers in Women's (12 on Friday, 13 on Saturday) and Rookie (16) remains the same.
• Total 50 players in Open Match Play will move on to Sunday Playoffs, with 45 of them playing in the first round (up from 30). Thus 15 additional positions payed out cash prize!
• 16 players (of 45) in Round 1 of Open Match Play move on to quarter finals and joined by the five players with a bye. Remainder of playoffs same as 2019.
• NW Women's Championship will now provide a cash prize plus trophy to the winner.
• NWPAS Satellite changes listed separately at top of Satellite Tournament's page.

Additional Information

Every attempt is made to keep the rules and information on this website accurate and up-to-date, and to run tournaments per the advertised structure and schedule. However, due to the nature of pinball and the fact that the tournaments are entirely run by volunteers, the tournament officials reserve the right to modify the tournament structure or schedule until the start time of that tournament. Late or last minute changes will be announced as appropriate prior to the start of the tournament. Changes to the tournament structure will not be made mid-tournament unless circumstances make such a change absolutely necessary.

1Prizes listed on this website are planned assuming the tournament meets minimum attendance goals that match prior year. Prizes listed may be decreased if total attendance is lower for any reason, including severe weather or natural disaster, power outages, technical issues, or covid-19 related changes that may force cancellation of rounds or reduction in total number of entries in each event.
